COLOSO

Term that comes from the Greek "kolossos" which means gigantic statue. The etymology of the Greek word is unknown, and it only appears in the texts from Herodotus' description of the Egyptian statues.

Most of the numerous civilizations of the Ancient Near East developed monumental statuary. The oldest known megalithic complex is Göbekli Tepe, dating from between 9600 and 8200 BC.
